Axum Yeha and Tigrean Rock Hewn Church Tour
Overview
The famous 16th century Portuguese traveler, Francisco Alvarez, described Yeha as ”a very large and handsome town, both for its height and the good workmanship of its walls.” Yeha is now known for its magnificent temple “Temple of Yeha” which is the oldest standing structure in Ethiopia built during the 8th century BC. It has recently undergone an excellent 8-year restoration project by German archeologists with an interesting on site museum revealing their discoveries.

In the morning fly to Axum (UNESCO heritage site), up on arrival meet and assist by ET-Holidays representative.
Axum is a city more than 3000 years of history and once the center of a great empire and ancient civilization, home of the original Ark of the Covenant. The sightseeing of this ancient city includes St. Mary’s Church, the sanctuary Chapel which is the repository for ‘Ark of the covenant’, the coronation yard, the Stelae Park, Tombs of Kaleb and his son Gebre Meskel, Ezana’s inscriptions and Dungur palace (popularly known as ruins of Queen of Sheba’s palace.

Excursion to visit the temple of Yeha and some of the Tigrean Roock-Hewn churches. You will visit Adwa battle field, the temple of Yeha, the oldest living monument in black Africa, and then Adi Kosho Medhanialem and Paulos-Petros churches. In the afternoon drive back to Axum

Fly back Addis Ababa.
In the afternoon spend at leisure or go for shopping or optionally you will do partial city tour of Addis.
